Middletown Pistol and Rifle Association Inc.'s Junior Rifle Team offers an opportunity for boys and girls from age 8 to 18 to participate the safe and exciting sport of competitive target shooting. No prior experience is required. You don't need your own equipment. We provide equipment and training. Through the junior rifle team kids learn valuable life skills, such as team work, self-discipline, patience. Girls and boys compete as equals on the same team. Most importantly, it provides valuable firearm safety training through our training course and ongoing instruction from our NRA Certified Instructors. MPRA has Junior Rifle Meetings
Monday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Also on Monday from 6 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Air Rifle (Ages 8 to 18 years) Parents - we welcome your participation! We depend on parent participation for supervising, coaching, scoring, and transporting our team members. Regardless of whether or not you have prior riflery experience, we could use your help. We know most of you are already busy, but even if you could pitch in just once in a while, we'd appreciate your support. A few words about safety.... Target shooting is one of the safest sports in America, with far lower injury rates than any contact sport. Every new team member completes a safety course. All members are required to follow strict safety standards. We have never had a shooting related injury - and we intend to keep it that way!

Patrick Murray, 16 year old, wins Golds at NY
Junior Olympics Patrick Murray has accomplished quite a bit for a 16-year-old. Earlier this year, Carmine Montalbano wrote to me about Patrick. Carmine supervises the Middletown Pistol & Rifle Junior team. Haven't heard of this rifle team? In an era when some people no longer value the lives of others and use guns to settle matters, it is encouraging some sanity and common sense can shine through. Murray is an example of sanity and common sense. He is a Life Scout with Troop 52 and very close to becoming an Eagle Scout. He's also a member of the NROTC at Middletown High School. Oh, and did I mention he's an expert marksman?
